Healthcare

Everyone should have access to quality healthcare at an affordable price. Providers deserve a fair wage and we the tax payers should not pay thousands of dollars for someone to go to the emergency room for non emergencies, because they can't afford a one hundred dollar office visit with a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Healthcare has been becoming less affordable and less obtainable. The Republicans are cutting funding for healthcare and the Democrats have approved the same ineffective policies for years. As an Independent, I will not be pushing for ineffective and costly healthcare. If you dont change your actions, the circumstances won't change.

Why is healthcare important to Patti?

Patti had a job making around $8.00 an hour without healthcare, when the Affordable Care Act went into effect Patti would have to pay 3 weeks salary for the premium. That would not have left enough for rent, let alone food, utilities or transportation. Patti and her daughter had to go without healthcare. Patti was taking care of her mother and when she was no longer able to take care of her, Patti had to search for a nursing home. The only way her mother could afford it was with medicaid, as medicare does not cover nursing care for long term care. Patti understands what everyday Americans go through with healthcare costs and quality of care.

As an Independent Candidate, Patti does not vote for a party, Patti votes for the people. We need to partner with providers, employers, insurance companies and pharmaceutical manufacturers in order to find the most cost effective care for Americans.

How can we fix shortages in the healthcare field?

There are many ways to make healthcare more effective and accessible. We can create college incentives, provide accelerated courses and paid internships for medical students. We can reinvent how healthcare works, integrating existing effective policies with innovative strategies to make our health system work for everyone.

How can we make healthcare more accessible for Americans?

Eliminate plans that require assigning a primary care provider or requirements to get referrals. When providers submit a claim to insurance , provide medical records, which would save time, hassles and money for the patients.

How can we create standard, affordable care regardless of who you go to

We can require providers to inform you of cost before services are provided. There can be a federal schedule of allowable rates for services, so providers can't charge whatever they want.

Is behavioral health as important as physical health?

Patti believes behavioral health is extremely important. From recovering from abuse or war and feeling better to developing healthy coping skills. From cognitive behavioral therapy to ABA. Whatever is effective for the individual should be accessible. regardless of the therapy needed. Some benefit from counseling, group therapy, service animals, acupuncture, float therapy or medications.  If it will help emotional health, it should be accessible.
